ACRE Energy is all about helping you to take better control of your energy costs and find help and support when you need it. We have worked with our member, the Community Council for Berkshire and others, to develop this application for those living and working in rural areas. We have brought together information and resources to enable you to be better informed on your home energy issues; simple steps that, when added together, can make a very noticeable difference to your bills and give you a warmer home.

About ACRE

Action with Communities in Rural England is the national body for the 38 rural community councils who make up the ACRE Network and has funded this free application as part of our commitment to serving and being the voice of rural people.

Our vision – to be the voice of rural communities – is supported by the wealth of evidence and intelligence on rural matters that we collect from our members. We use this evidence to influence national policy on rural issues, from housing, health and transport to broadband, services and fuel poverty.

We have a strong track record of speaking up for rural communities on the national stage and delivering multi-million pound projects that enable our communities to find innovative solutions to the challenges they face.
Our rural community councils – many of whom date back 90 years - have a long and fruitful history of making a difference at grassroots level. ACRE was formed in 1987 to bring them together under one umbrella, harnessing the strength of their experience to support our national work.

Building on our member’s experience we also recognised the need for wider information and we’ve put together a range of information and contact phone numbers that will assist you to access the help and resources you’re looking for. For example, you can contact a volunteer car scheme or find out more about heating-oil buying clubs. Your local Rural Community Council has been supporting and helping communities with all things rural for many years. And if they can’t help you, they will know someone who can.
